Sponsoring a New PU Member
1. Make sure they qualify.
The applicant must have Produced a minimum of three (3) scripted feature films and/or Executive Produced three (3) scripted television shows that have been distributed in the United States. Other producing credits (i.e. Executive Producer in film, Producer in TV, Co-Producer, Associate Producer, etc.) do not qualify.
2. Write a letter of recommendation.
You must be familiar enough with the applicant to be 100% comfortable advocating for their consistent adherence to the Career Producer definition and consistent commitment to carry out the services listed within the Producers Responsibility Checklist when producing films and/or executive producing television shows. They will also need a second letter of recommendation from another existing Producers United member.
NOTE: If neither sponsor has worked directly with the applicant, a third recommendation letter must be submitted by a colleague who has collaborated with them on at least one project from start to finish. This individual does not need to be a Producers United member.
3. Collect their filmography/credits list.
It is the responsibility of one of the sponsoring members to submit the applicant’s filmography/credits list, clearly indicating the films Produced and/or television shows Executive Produced. ***Please submit a list containing ALL of the applicant’s credits, highlighting those that qualify for PU membership. Do NOT submit an IMDb link or screenshot.***
4. Submit everything via this form.
Include your letter of recommendation, the potential new member’s filmography/credits, their bio (if available), their email address, and the name of their second PU sponsor, if you know it. You may also submit the second sponsor’s letter on their behalf, if you have it.
Once all documentation has been collected, it will be sent to the Membership Committee for review. If accepted, the applicant will be sent a pledge letter.
